WEEKLY: China's iron ore port stocks hover at 3-mth high


Inventories of imported iron ore piled at 45 Chinese major ports under Mysteel's survey had climbed for the eighth consecutive week to 138.9 million tonnes over August 12-18, or hovering at a three-month high though the on-week increment narrowed to 20,400 tonnes. And the volume was also 9% higher than the same period last year.
During the latest survey period, Chinese steelmakers continued to carry more portside iron ore to their plants for the recent production resumption, Mysteel Global noted. Consequently, the total volume of iron ore discharged daily from these ports grew to 2.8 million tonnes/day on average, up for the third week by another 53,700 t/d or 2%
