WSA: Global Jan-Aug crude steel output falls 5% on year


Over January-August, crude steel production among 64 countries worldwide under the monthly survey of World Steel Association (WSA) posted a 5.1% on-year decline to 1.25 billion tonnes in total, among which 150.6 million tonnes were for August alone, down 3% on year but 1.1% higher on month, according to the association's release on September 22.
The on-month rise in global steel output in August was mostly due to the recovery in crude steel output from China – the world's top steelmaking country, with the country's output rising by 3.1% on month to 83.9 million tonnes last month. And China's August crude steel production also registered
