Poorer air quality forces Tangshan to elevate curbs

Over the coming few days, the local government of Tangshan city, China’s top steel producing base in Hebei province, intends to strengthen emergency measures already in place to reduce pollution over the city, Mysteel Global has learned, as a response to warnings from both the central and local meteorological administrations about air quality deteriorating.
During October 18-22, tougher operations restraints will be placed on local industries regarded as heavy emitters of pollution including steel producers and merchant coke makers, according to a city government notice issued on October 17.
