WSA: Global Aug steel output reverses up 0.6% on year

Crude steel output among the 64 countries tracked monthly by the World Steel Association (WSA) grew by 0.6% on year to 156 million tonnes in August, ending the persistent on-year decline over the prior five months, according to WSA data.
The on-year recovery took the world’s total crude steel output over January-August to 1.19 billion tonnes. Though this was down 4.2% compared with the first eight months of last year, the on-year decline narrowed further compared with that for the first seven months, Mysteel Global notes, indicating that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic
