In October, the inventory of raw materials and semi-finished products for China's anode materials reached 262,100 tonnes, an increase of 3.39% compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, the downstream orders performed well, and coupled with the need to stock up for the end of the year, anode companies had a stocking demand, resulting in a slight increase in raw material and semi-finished product inventory.
2. The rising anode supply in October
Anode Material Production and Capacity Utilization (000 tonnes)
Anode Materials | October | September | MoM | MoM (%) |
Production | 175.3 | 140.3 | 35 | 24.95% |
Capacity utilization rate | 62.07% | 49.68% | 12.39% | / |
The production of anode materials in October totaled 175,300 tonnes, a year-on-year increase of 35.47% and a month-on-month increase of 24.95%. The capacity utilization rate was 62.07%, with an increase of 12.39% on month. In October, the supply side was abundant, with top-tier enterprises operating at full capacity. Downstream demand remained stable with moderate growth amid rising orders. Thus the installed capacity of power batteries and downstream demand for EVs both grew.
3. The shipment up 13.34% MoM
In October, the shipment volume of China's anode materials stood at 123,200 tonnes, an increase of 13.34% compared to the previous month. In October, downstream power battery and energy storage battery orders both improved, driving an increase in shipments of anode materials.
In summary, the inventory is currently at a reasonable level. It is expected that there may be a slight decline in demand for anode materials in November, and the production schedule will decrease slightly. The anode material market is mixed with positive and negative factors, and it is expected that prices will remain stable.
