China's Guangdong to cap industrial coal use in 2025

Southern China's Guangdong province aims to curtail coal consumption by industrial sectors in 2025 to help meet its carbon emission goals and improve air conditions, according to a work plan issued by the provincial government on December 10.

The work plan says that on the assumption that power and heating supplies will be sufficient, those coal-fired boilers and small coal-fired heat and power units (including captive power plants) that have yet to incorporate ultra-low emission (ULE) technologies in the province should be shut down for consolidation. In parallel,
