WEEKLY: China's rebar output declines another 2%

Rebar output among the 137 steelmakers regularly sampled by Mysteel declined for the fourth consecutive week during December 5-11, sliding by 2% or 44,100 tonnes on week to 2.18 million tonnes, which was also 15.1% lower on year, the results of the latest weekly survey show. Survey respondents attributed the fall in output to mills conducting maintenance and scaling back operations or adjusting their rolling schedules to produce other, more profitable steel items.

The survey showed that mills – especially those located in East China's Shandong and Anhui provinces and in most parts of northeastern China – witnessed significant declines in rebar output during the survey week.
