DAILY: Trades improve at China's portside thermal coal market

The trading liquidity of spot thermal coal improved slightly at northern China ports on March 21, as some sellers undercut competitors due to mounted stock pressures, sources noted.

As a result, prices of 5,500 kcal/kg and 5,000 NAR thermal coal under Mysteel's assessment fell Yuan 5/t from a day earlier to Yuan 680/tonne ($93.7/t) and Yuan 590/t last Friday, respectively, while the assessment for 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grade stood flat at Yuan 520/t, all on FOB northern
