China's NDRC greenlights a mega coal project in Xinjiang

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's state economic planning body, has permitted the construction of a new coal project in northwestern China's Xinjiang autonomous region, according to a report issued on August 30 by Guanghui Energy Co., Ltd, promoter of the project.

The approval is aimed at reinforcing Xinjiang's status as a key coal supplier and is a significant step to optimize the local coal industry's structure, the report noted. Located in Naomaohu Coalfield, Yiwu county in Hami city, the project is named the Malang No.1 coal mine and has total coal
