WEEKLY: China's alumina output, stocks both rise

China's alumina production and inventories both increased during last week compared with the previous week, according to the results of Mysteel's latest survey. The upticks in output and stocks reflected an increase in alumina refining capacity and run rates during the week and mounting inventories held by primary aluminum smelters and alumina producers over the same period, Mysteel Global observed.

Over February 21-27, China's output of metallurgical-grade alumina among the 44 surveyed alumina manufacturers under Mysteel's regular tracking totalled 1.76 million tonnes, an increase of 16,000 tonnes from the previous week that largely resulted from newly built and resumed capacities over the week, according to survey respondents.
