Russia's coal production retreats MoM in January

Russia's production of all types of coal during January retreated by 7.9% from the near two-year high recorded in December to 37.5 million tonnes, the latest data from the Russian State Statistics Service (Rosstat) show.

The decline reflected the continued negative impact of the shortage of rail transport capacity, specifically a lack of rail locomotives and drivers, further constraining coal movements to domestic users and even for export, sources disclosed. The U.S. sanctions on Russia also contributed to the decline. However, the January figure was
