NBS: Shanxi's raw coal output jumps 20% in Jan-Feb, Inner Mongolia's only by 2%

Northern China's Shanxi province produced 214.24 million tonnes of raw coal in the first two months of 2025, marking a staggering rise of 20.3% from the previous year, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed. The strong rebound helped it retake the top-producer title from neighboring Inner Mongolia, where raw coal production rose just 2% to 207.09 million tonnes.

NBS consolidates its data for January and February due to the disruption in regular data collection and releases caused by the Chinese New Year holiday, which typically falls in either of these months, Mysteel Global notes.
