Production of hot-rolled coils (HRCs) among the 37 flat steelmakers across China reached a nearly four-month high of 3.2 million tonnes over August 24-30 after four weeks of gains, according to Mysteel's weekly production survey. Survey respondents cited the significant on-week growth in HRC output at some mills in North China that had brought their blast furnaces back on stream.
Over the survey period, the hot-rolling capacity utilization rate among these surveyed mills had risen for the fourth week accordingly, up 0.54 percentage point on week to touch a four-month high of 81.78%, Mysteel's data found.
