Monthly: Aug China copper plate/strip trade data analysis

In August 2022, China copper plate/strip import was 7.6kt, decreasing by 0.5kt (6.29%) month on month. Main reasons for import decrease: (1) Import countries decreased from 26 in July to 24 in August. (2) Import from South Korea, Japan and Germany fell by 416t, 172t and 143t, respectively. August import decreased by 3.2kt (29.44%) year on year. Accumulative copper plate/strip import was 69kt, falling by 17.5kt (20.2%) year on year.

In August 2022, China copper plate/strip export was 8.4kt, decreasing by 1.7kt (16.9%) month on month. Decrease was mainly from America, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, India, Germany and Vietnam, falling by 376t, 318t, 374t, 230t, 211t, 195t and 130t respectively. August copper plate/strip export increased by 1.3kt (18.74%) year on year. Accumulative copper plate/strip export was 69.9kt, rising by 24.2kt (52.83%) year on year.

August China copper plate/strip net import was -792.82t, decreasing by 60.28% month on month and 121.27% year on year. Accumulative net import was -855.74t, falling by 41.6kt (102.1%) year on year.

China imports copper plate/strip mainly from Japan, South Korea, Germany, Taiwan China and Finland. Japan, South Korea and Germany rank fist third. In August 2022, China imported 6.2kt of copper plate/strip from these three countries, 81.32% of total import; import volume from first fifth districts was 7.2kt, 93.7% of total import. In 2022, China imported 54.8kt from Japan, South Korea and Germany, accounting for 79.48% of the volume from global.

In August China mainly exported copper plate/strip to South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan China, India, Malaysia, Germany, America, Thailand and Indonesia with total volume of 6.3kt, accounting for 74.51% of total export, decreasing by 19.29% month on month and increasing by 25.52% year on year. In 2022, China exported 51.9kt to these ten districts, 74.21% of total export, rising by 52.83% year on year.
