WEEKLY: China coke plants' coke stocks at 1-month low

Total stocks of metallurgical coke at the 230 Chinese independent coking plants that Mysteel regularly monitors declined sharply during November 24-30 to reach 454,600 tonnes, down by a large 57,600 tonnes or 11.2% on week and touching a four-week low. The decline stemmed mainly from the active purchasing of coke products recently by Chinese steelmakers and not from any drop in coke production, survey respondents suggested.

During the survey period, demand for coke among steelmakers remained firm, and many mills continued to purchase coke at a steady pace to ensure they had sufficient to meet the uptick in steel production, Mysteel Global learned.
