MYSTEEL: China UHP graphite electrode prices at 3.5-year low

Chinese prices for ultra-high-power (UHP) graphite electrodes have been trending steadily downward since late March this year and are likely to lose more ground in coming weeks as domestic demand is waning, the results of Mysteel's latest survey suggest.

As of June 17, the composite price for 350mm diameter UHP electrodes in East China's Jiangsu province sat at Yuan 13,700/tonne ($1,888/t), the lowest level since November 19 2020, according to Mysteel's assessment, while that for 600mm electrodes hit a new low since September 15 2020 at Yuan 16,200/t,
