Chinese alumina prices remain steady, trading ticks up

Chinese alumina prices generally stayed flat on March 6, while trading activity in the spot market slightly picked up, but the concluded volume was thin still as many buyers were cautious about purchasing, market watchers noted.

On March 6, the average prices for alumina with a purity level of over 98.6% in China's five major alumina production bases, namely Shanxi, Henan, Shandong and Guizhou provinces and the Guangxi autonomous region, remained unchanged for the fifth straight working day at Yuan 3,350-3,440/tonne ($460-472/t), according to Mysteel's daily assessment.
