WEEKLY: China mines' iron ore production slumps, prices weaken

Output among Chinese iron ore mining enterprises declined sharply during May 23-29, mainly because of maintenance work among multiple mines in North and East China, the results of Mysteel's survey showed.

Specifically, a leading mining company in North China halted operations on its mines last week to conduct temporary overhauls on mining and safety equipment, while a few mines in East China also suspended operations for maintenance work, the survey results indicated. Consequently, during the sample week, the total production of iron ore concentrates produced by the 186
