WEEKLY: China's iron ore port stocks slip slightly

Inventories of imported iron ore stockpiled at China's major 45 ports under Mysteel's regular tracking stood at 137.6 million tonnes on August 28, falling by 821,800 tonnes or 0.6% on week after three weeks of slow increases, according to Mysteel's latest survey results. Compared with the year-ago level, the portside inventories were 10% lower.

The arrivals of iron ore cargoes at the ports surveyed also dropped recently. During August 18-24, about 23.9 million tonnes of iron ore cargoes arrived at the 45 ports, down by 833,000 tonnes or 3.4% from the prior week. Nonetheless, more vessels were queuing at these ports for unloading,
