DAILY: Indonesian thermal coal prices under downward pressure

Indonesian thermal coal prices continued to face downward pressure at the start of this week as Chinese buyers either reduced or briefly suspended seaborne procurement, waiting for clearer market signals amid a softening in China's domestic market.

On November 24, Mysteel assessed Indonesian 3,800 kcal/kg, 4,700 kcal/kg and 5,000 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal grades at $52.2/tonne, $71.5/t, and $74.5/t, respectively, FOB Kalimantan, all unchanged for three consecutive sessions. This had mirrored a weeklong stability in Chinese domestic prices before their softening on November 24, with the 5,000
