WEEKLY SUMMARY: China's major steel prices strengthen further

China's prices of major steel products, including rebar, square billet and hot-rolled coil (HRC), all strengthened during December 1-5 amid a positive market sentiment and more-balanced fundamentals with lower production at domestic steel mills and the further decline in finished steel inventories. Meanwhile, the relatively firm prices of key steelmaking raw materials like iron ore also underpinned steel prices from the cost side, Mysteel Global learned.

Rebar: As of December 5, the national price of HRB400E 20mm dia rebar under Mysteel's assessment came in at Yuan 3,326/tonne ($471/t) including the 13% VAT, growing by Yuan 35/t from one week earlier.
