WEEKLY: Tangshan billet prices rebound slightly on week

Billet prices in Tangshan in North China's Hebei province recovered slightly last week, with Mysteel assessing the price of Q235 150mm square billet in the city at Yuan 2,950/tonne ($419/t) EXW including the 13% VAT on December 21. This marked a rebound of Yuan 10/t on week but not completely offsetting the Yuan 30/t decline during the week to December 14, Mysteel Global notes.

On the supply side, Mysteel's survey last week among the 21 steelmakers in Tangshan and the surrounding area showed that their combined external sales of billets – including export orders – averaged 39,800 tonnes/day over December 12-18, jumping by 28.4% or 8,800 t/d on week despite production curbs imposed
