DAILY: Slow trade still pressures China's coking coal prices

China's spot coking coal prices were still pressured by slow trading activity as of January 4, a makeup workday for the New Year's Day holiday in China over January 1-3. End-users showed little interest in building coal stockpiles due to their modest consumption of the feedstock and optimism about the near-term supply availability.

Mysteel's assessment of the national composite coking coal price shed a larger Yuan 8.7/tonne ($1.2/t) from the last session to sit at Yuan 1,258.8/t including the 13% VAT on Sunday. In North China's Shanxi province, 20 coking coal deals were settled lower by Yuan 11-100/t yesterday, while only 2 deals
