WEEKLY: Chinese mills' steel stocks rise 2% on week

Inventories of the five major carbon steel products held by the Chinese steel mills sampled in Mysteel's regular survey increased during the January 1-8 week after the steady fall over the prior three weeks. The total tonnage rose by 1.9% on week to reach 3.89 million tonnes, the survey results show.
The five major steel items comprise rebar, wire rod, hot-rolled coil (HRC), cold-rolled coil and medium plate. During the latest survey period, the only items among the five whose stocks decreased was HRC – declining by 6.1% on week – while those of the others mounted by varying degrees.   The
