On January 20, the price of electrolytic cobalt remained flat at Yuan 432,727-435,000/tonne from the previous trading day. At the same time, the prices of cobalt sulfate and cobalt chloride were unchanged at Yuan 95,500/t-98,500/t and 115,000-119,000/t respectively.Recent pressure on cobalt sulfate production has significantly increased, with smelters offering high-priced quotes. New shipments were generally quoted around Yuan 97,000/tonne, although the actual transaction price remained around Yuan 96,000/t. Recently, influenced by the sharp drop in the electrolytic cobalt futures market, the economic feasibility of reverse dissolution has become evident. Downstream buyers are widely pushing for lower prices, leading to a tug-of-war between buyers and sellers and limited transactions.
