GACC: China's coking coal imports hit record high in Dec

China's coking coal imports from all sources in December 2025 notched a historical high of 13.77 million tonnes, surging by 28.6% on year and 28.3% on month, respectively, data from the country's General Administration of Customs (GACC) on January 20 show.

The December import value swelled by 44.1% from the prior month to record $1.54 billion, which was also higher by 2.3% from the year-ago level. The monthly average import price jumped by 12.3% from November to hit a ten-month high of $111.7/tonne, though it remained 20.4% lower on year,
