DAILY: China's met coke price wrangle persists, headwinds remain

Chinese metallurgical coke market remained stable on January 21, with negotiations on price hikes between coke and steel producers still at an impasse. Sources shared that steelmakers showed strong resistance as they were also struggling in a persistent market downturn.

On Wednesday, Mysteel's assessment of China's quasi-first-grade met coke prices, for wet-quenching and dry-quenching types respectively, remained unchanged from the previous session at Yuan 1,381.7/tonne ($198.5/t) and Yuan 1,515.1/t including the 13% VAT. The latest attempts of many coke producers to lift their met coke selling price by Yuan 50-55/t
