Driven by sentiment and capital flows, vegetable oil prices continued to strengthen during the night session, with soybean oil futures briefly touching a high of Yuan 8,382 per tonne, testing a breakthrough toward the 8,400 resistance level. Physical basis differentials remained under pressure as the market actively offered fixed prices. Basis quotes for May contracts declined: in East China, prices fell to around Yuan +420/tonne, while in inland regions such as Sichuan and Chongqing, prices dropped to around +700 and Yuan +600/ton, respectively. Meanwhile, trading volumes for deferred contracts picked up, with bulk transactions recorded for Feb-Mar, Mar-Apr, and Feb-May periods yesterday, significantly easing post-holiday supply concerns.
