WEEKLY: Chinese mills' pre-holiday replenishment of met coke draws to a close

Chinese steelmakers' replenishment of metallurgical coke ahead of the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday beginning on February 15 gradually slowed during the week to February 5, according to Mysteel's latest survey. Next week in the days remaining before the break, mills will focus on maintaining their current stock levels, which may limit price fluctuations in the market, survey respondents suggested.

Their concern about potential met coke delivery disruptions brought by traffic congestion during the upcoming holiday led Chinese steelmakers to steadily build up their inventories over the past seven or so weeks, Mysteel Global observed. Some traders will also take leave, making emergency replenishment during the break harder than
