DAILY: China's thermal coal supply shortfall offsets demand weakness

China's domestic thermal coal market remained rangebound on February 6, as the supportive impact of supply tightness was offset by weak demand, leaving the market in a typical lull ahead of the Chinese New Year holiday.

On Friday, Mysteel assessed 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at Yuan 701/tonne ($101.1/t) FOB northern ports with VAT, and 5,000 kcal/kg NAR at Yuan 616/t, both unchanged from a day earlier.
