WEEKLY: China's rebar output edges up during CNY holiday

Rebar output among the 137 Chinese steel mills Mysteel regularly tracks edged higher on week during February 12-18, with the production volume rising by 0.7% or 12,200 tonnes on week to 1.7 million tonnes, according to latest weekly survey results. The survey period coincided with this year's nine-day Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday that began on February 15.

The tiny rise in rebar output can be partly attributed to the resumption of operations of some blast furnaces and rolling mills over the week, according to Mysteel's weekly report. By province, steelmakers in East China's Jiangsu and Central China's Hunan provinces contributed the most to the production gain,
