On March 5, the price of electrolytic cobalt rose Yuan 1,482/tonne to Yuan 429,009-430,136/tonne from the previous trading day. Moreover, the prices of cobalt chloride and cobalt sulfate both moved down Yuan 500/t to 115,000-118,000/t and 95,000/t-98,000/t respectively.In terms of the cobalt sulfate market, downstream NCM precursor industry has been in the traditional off season, only maintaining purchases on rigid demand. Post-holiday, some manufacturers temporarily refused to make quotations, some maintained pre-holiday price levels. In the absence of clear positive market factors, cobalt chemicals prices are expected to maintain a volatile and consolidating trend in the short term. Future price movements will require close attention to when downstream restocking demand picks up and the supply trend in major cobalt mining regions.
