WEEKLY: Improved sentiment lifts China's coking coal trading

Trading of spot coking coal in China accelerated markedly this week, Mysteel's latest survey found. The market was reacting to global energy supply disruptions from the war in the Middle East which caused Chinese coking coal futures prices to surge.

Over just four days spanning March 9-12, the traded volume in China's coking coal online auctions had reached 1.47 million tonnes, up 30.5% from that of 1.13 million tonnes over March 2-6. The combined clearance rate over the first four days of this week also grew to around 94%
