Over 20 Chinese provinces lower minimum down payment for commercial properties to boost destocking

On March 16, the Shanghai branch of the People's Bank of China (PBOC) announced that the minimum down payment for purchasing commercial properties -- including mixed-use commercial-residential units -- has been lowered to no less than 30%. The adjustment is intended to speed up the destocking of the commercial real estate market and stimulate greater transaction activity.

On January 15, Zou Lan, spokesperson and vice governor of the PBOC, announced that, in coordination with the National Financial Regulatory Authority (NFRA), the minimum down payment for commercial property loans would be reduced to 30% to support the destocking of commercial real estate. Two days later, the two
