DAILY: China's thermal coal extends gains, upside slows

China's thermal coal market edged higher on March 26, though weakening demand and thinning liquidity suggested the upward momentum was beginning to fade.

Mysteel assessed 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at Yuan 759/tonne ($109.8/t) FOB northern ports with VAT, up Yuan 4/t on day. The 5,000 kcal/kg and 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grades also increased Yuan 5/t each to Yuan 679/t and Yuan 591/t, respectively. Spot quotations remained firm at high levels. Offers for
