WEEKLY: China's thermal coal market retreats on seasonal weakness

China's thermal coal market pulled back last week (March 30-April 3), with prices softening amid seasonal demand weakness despite moderate supply-side constraints, market sources noted.

As of April 3, Mysteel assessed 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at Yuan 759/tonne ($110.3/t) FOB northern ports with VAT, down by Yuan 2/t from a week ago. Lower-calorific-value coal saw bigger declines, with 5,000 kcal/kg and 4,500 kcal/kg grades falling by Yuan 5/t each to Yuan 676/t and
