WEEKLY: China's coking coal price edges up on met coke deal

Confidence among coking coal market players in China strengthened during April 10-16 amid progress in talks about price rises for domestic metallurgical coke. A breakthrough in the negotiations had caused Chinese coking coal prices to rise during this survey week, partly offsetting the declines in the previous two, Mysteel's latest survey found.

On April 16, Mysteel assessed China's national composite coking coal price at Yuan 1,328/tonne ($194.6/t) including the 13% VAT, higher by Yuan 2.7/t from the previous week. Though tiny, the rise still marked a reversal from the declines of Yuan 16.5/t and Yuan 8.8/t over the previous two weeks
