Last week, the domestic vegetable oil market was driven by three major forcesinternational geopolitics, biofuel policy, and extreme weather expectationsresulting in a pattern of early-week declines followed by a late-week rebound, with an overall range-bound and slightly stronger bias. In the first half of the week, prices came under pressure due to a brief reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a sharp drop in crude oil. In the latter half, as uncertainty over a U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement increased and tensions in the Strait reignited, coupled with Indonesia's clear announcement that it will implement the B50 biodiesel policy starting July 1, crude oil and vegetable oil prices saw a strong rebound. The market's trading focus shifted from short-term geopolitical risks to long-term biofuel demand growth and potential El Nio weather threats. Palm oil led the gains due to its strongest narrative appeal, followed by soybean oil and rapeseed oil.
