CBOT soybean July futures settled at 1185.50 cents per bushel, unchanged from the previous session. CBOT soybean futures were mixed. Despite a drop of more than 5% in crude oil prices, CBOT soy oil futures remained strong. The spring soybean planting pace in the U.S. continues to exceed historical averages. The USDA crop report showed that as of May 24, planting was 79% complete, and the emergence rate had risen to 49%. Favorable weather conditions are supporting the growth of the new-season soybeans. Iran's state television reported that the U.S. and Iran had reached a framework agreement to restore shipping in the Strait of Hormuz within a month, causing international oil prices to plunge more than 5%, which weighed on soy oil and soybeans through the biofuel chain. However, the U.S. subsequently refuted the report, leaving geopolitical uncertainties unresolved.
