On June 1, the market price of electrolytic cobalt increased Yuan 1,000/tonne to Yuan 418,591-421,909/tonne. In addition, the market prices of cobalt sulfate and cobalt chloride both remained stable at Yuan 90,000/t-94,000/t and 113,000-115,000/t respectively.In the cobalt sulfate market, some spot transactions have already broken through the key threshold of Yuan 90,000/tonne, indicating a relatively weak actual trading atmosphere. Although mainstream smelters remain inclined to support prices due to cost factors (such as high sulfur prices and tight supply of cobalt intermediates), the market is simultaneously seeing the circulation of low-cost materials produced via recycling or dissolved electrowinning cobalt. This has widened the spread in market quotations. Downstream ternary precursor producers are largely adopting a wait-and-see approach, replenishing only limited volumes to meet immediate needs. In addition, operating rates at cobalt chloride producers remained high.
