Monday CBOT soybean futures closed lower, with the benchmark November contract down 1.49% at 1137.5 /bu, as traders adjusted positions ahead of the USDA planted acreage and quarterly stocks reports. The market expects U.S. soybean acreage at ~85.369 million acres, with June 1 stocks up ~3.8% year-on-year. On exports, weekly soybean export inspections for the week ending June 25 totaled 419,000 tonnes, up 54% from the previous week and 77% year-on-year; private exporters reported sales of 136,000 tonnes of soybeans to unknown destinations. The Crop Progress report showed the soybean good/excellent rating at 65% for the week ending June 28, down 1 point from the prior week and below last year's 66%. Weather-wise, Midwest temperatures may peak midweek before cooling. All eyes are on today's twin USDA reports for direction.
