DAILY: China's portside thermal coal slides as stockpiles accumulate

China's thermal coal market continued its downward trend on July 2, as Bohai Rim port inventories kept building, despite forecasts of a major heatwave expected to sweep across northern China in the coming days.

On Thursday, Mysteel assessed 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at northern ports at Yuan 830/tonne ($122.4/t) FOB with VAT, down Yuan 6/t from Wednesday. The 5,000 kcal/kg and 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grades fell Yuan 6/t each to Yuan 738/t and Yuan 639/t, respectively. At ports along the Yangtze River
