Chinese coking coal prices trended lower on July 17, with prolonged steel-sector softness weighing on the near-term market sentiment, curtailing transaction volumes and driving price revisions for specific grades.

Last Friday, Mysteel Coking Coal Index (MCCI), a benchmark for coking coal prices in China, stood at Yuan 1,694.1/tonne ($250/t) including the 13% VAT, down Yuan 0.2/t from the previous session.
