China's recycling of demolition steel scrap stabilizes

After falling steadily in June, the volume of ferrous scrap recycled from construction and building demolition sites in China has stabilized around 35,000 tonnes per week so far this month amid a seasonal summer lull for building activity, Mysteel's latest survey results showed.

During July 11-17, for example, the total quantity of steel scrap salvaged from demolished buildings by the 195 domestic scrap recycling companies under Mysteel's weekly monitoring totalled 35,133 tonnes, largely unchanged from a month earlier, though the volume stood 29% higher compared with the same period last year.
