WEEKLY: Output at Chinese met coke plants plunges to over 2-y low

China's metallurgical coke output has been hammered by mounting financial strains for many producers this week, as re-ignited rallies in coking coal prices squeezed margins while coke selling prices were still locked at low levels.

According to Mysteel's survey, daily met coke output of the sampled 230 independent coke plants nationwide dived down to only 485,600 tonnes/day during August 6-12, extending the downtrend for a month and decreasing by another 1.22% from a week earlier. Notably, the result marked the lowest weekly output since
