WEEKLY: Tangshan billet prices mount further on week

Billet prices in Tangshan in North China's Hebei province rose further during August 31-September 6, with Mysteel assessing the price of Q235 150mm square billet in the city at Yuan 3,040/tonne ($452/t) EXW and including the 13% VAT on September 6, up by Yuan 10/t on week.

The lift was blamed on mills passing on higher costs. Last Thursday, they agreed to pay Yuan 100-110/t more for their metallurgical coke, the fourth increase since August 24. This prompted the steelmakers to raise ex-works prices of billets on the same day, according to sources. Most Tangshan steelmakers maintained
