MONTHLY: China's Aug FeSi output edges down on month

China's total ferrosilicon (FeSi) production declined slightly in August after the rise over the prior month, with the volume dipping by 6,510 tonnes or 1.3% on month to reach 500,110 tonnes, according to Mysteel's monthly survey of 136 Chinese smelters.

The sampled smelters account for about 90% of China's FeSi smelting capacity. On a daily basis, FeSi output among the sampled smelters averaged 16,133 t/d in August, lower by 210 t/d or 1.3% from the previous month, the findings showed.
