WEEKLY: Chinese steelmakers' coke stocks approach 2-year low

Chinese steelmakers' coke stockpiles have fallen to a nearly two-year low amid steady consumption and weak restocking. That points to potential coke buying from mills in the coming week ahead of upcoming public holidays, which should at least keep a solid floor for domestic metallurgical coke prices.

Total met coke stockpiles at the 247 blast-furnace (BF) mills Mysteel tracks declined to 5.67 million tonnes as of September 17, extending the losing streak for three consecutive months and lower by another 0.87% from a week earlier. The reading also marked a new low since mid-October 2024. Meanwhile, the
