Before the holiday, domestic commercial palm oil inventories accumulated to 968,400 tonnes, a sharp year-on-year increase, indicating a relatively weak supply-demand situation. However, during the holiday, the external market released significantly positive factors: SPPAMA data showed that Malaysia's palm oil production from October 1 to 5 fell 5.97% month-on-month, with fresh fruit bunch yields down 5.02%; meanwhile, SGS data showed that Malaysia's September palm oil exports reached 955,298 tonnes, up 2.62% month-on-month. Boosted by both lower production and improved exports, BMD palm oil and Indonesian and Malaysian crude palm oil prices performed strongly during the holiday. Domestic refineries operated partially during the holiday. It is expected that after the holiday, domestic palm oil will usher in a rebound and recovery driven by the strong external market, and spot basis is expected to stabilize.
