WEEKLY: China's SiMn prices edge up after holiday

China's silicomanganese (SiMn) prices recovered slightly after the National Day holiday, with the national price of 6517 SiMn under Mysteel's assessment standing at Yuan 5,716/tonne ($854/t) including the 13% VAT on October 10, a make-up working day following the weeklong break. The price rose Yuan 5/t from September 30, the last working day before the holiday.

SiMn prices in the derivatives market also strengthened recently. On October 9, the most-traded SiMn contract on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange for November delivery closed the daytime trading session at Yuan 5,858/t, higher by Yuan 60/t from the settlement price on September 30, according to the exchange's data.
